About Event:

Multi Sensor Data Fusion (MSDF) is the process, to collect measurements from various similar or dissimilar sources and sensors, extract the required information, draw logical inferences, and then combine or fuse to provide a robust and complete description of a process of interest. Its applications are:

  • Automated target recognition- object recognition, environment mapping, and localisation
  • Battlefield surveillance
  • Guidance and control of autonomous vehicles
  • Monitoring of complex machinery
  • Medical diagnosis
  • Smart buildings

This involves the study of several related disciplines: (1) signal and image processing;(2) numerical computational algorithms;              (3) statistical and probabilistic approaches and methods; (4) sensor modelling, management, control, and optimization; (5) neural networks, fuzzy logic systems, and genetic algorithms; (6) system identification and state or parameter estimation;(7) pattern recognition (8) database management.

Topics to be covered:

Introduction and Importance of Data Fusion
          Soft computing for data fusion
          Sensors for Small UAVs
Kinematic Data Fusion and MATLAB demos
          MSDF in Aerospace  Applications
Image registration, fusion and applications MATLAB demos
Basic algorithms for Target Tracking and Data Fusion
          Fuzzy Logic based MSDF
Sensor data fusion in the Internet of Things (IoT)
Some research topics for PG/Doctoral projects in MSDF
