About Event:
Demand for qualified VLSI engineers is exponentially increasing
over the years. The academic community is unable to meet the demands of
semiconductor industry. Exorbitant cost of EDA tools, online support for self
learning, non availability of expert teaching assistance and complexities in
tool usage have restricted academic community to impart relevant training to
deserving candidates to pursue their career in VLSI design. Top EDA companies
such as Cadence, Synopsys and Mentor Graphics have supported academic
institutions through their University Programs, however, some institutions have
not be able to significantly benefit due to several reasons. There are good
numbers of open source EDA tools that are on par with commercial EDA tools for
VLSI design. Very few in India have attempted to use them, top universities in
the US, UK, Australia, Germany and France use open source EDA tools to teach
undergraduate and post graduate courses.
