About Event:
With most of the genomes being completely sequenced, the
direction of research in life sciences has been geared towards analyzing the
organisms at the genome level. The wholistic approaches of looking into
organisms have ended up in evolution of the new branch of life science the “Genomics”. The paradigm of research in
Biotechnology has been shifting from DNA to gene to genome to proteome.
Analyzing genomes and their functions has been made possible only by the various high throughput techniques that are
applied in these fields. A thorough knowledge of the basics and a skilled
training on these techniques have become
mandatory to pursue career in the field of biotechnology. The techniques are not only necessary for teaching and learning purposes but also has become obligatory to most of the research work taken by the faculty member in their institutes. The programe aims at imparting hands on training on the basic and high throughput experiments like genomic DNA isolation from prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, primer designing, PCR, cDNA synthesis, Real Time P C R analysis, 2D-gel electrophoresis, RFLP, Southern and Western blot hybridizations , E L I S A , H P L C and F P L C .
